Why are you riding with @alpineeveresting?
Two main reasons:
1. My family, like many others, has been touched by cancer losing my mother in 2013 (my grandfather & many friends). I think it is critical that everyone has access to the same support/services when faced with such a battle;
2. I love to take on challenges and adventures that I’m not sure are possible (& scare me) and inspire other people (especially other women) to take their own first step to achieve what they think is impossible.
Longest ride: March 2021, 24hr cycling Audax team event, The Oppy. I rode 431.89 km and we achieved the QLD all female team record!
Favourite cycling moment:
Cycling has opened up my world and allowed me to meet so many amazing people.
One moment I will forever cherish is towards the beginning of my cycling journey (no, not the moment of falling over at an intersection trying to unclip….a moment most of us have, haha!). The Ride to Conquer Cancer was a 2-day event, 100km each day and camping overnight to raise funds for cancer research. In 2015, my second R2CC was in Melbourne with my brother and father. It was challenging but something I will be forever grateful for as the three of us rode together in memory of my mother and all other cancer suffers and survivors.
Favourite event:
My favourite rides are the random adventures that start with a crazy idea. This year we decided to ride from the Sunshine Coast to the border of NSW return. We faced crazy headwinds on the hottest day I think I have ever ridden BUT we had a blast.
Favourite endurance fuel:
I have recently tried a boiled potato with salt in an ultra-trail run. It was amazing and brought me back to life, hehe.
What would you say to a woman who is contemplating joining us?
Reach out to people involved in the current adventure to hear their story/background, back yourself and say yes!! A fair few of us have self-doubt about the event but with a positive attitude and amazing support you won’t look back. These adventures leave you with a life time of memories.
