Why are you riding with @alpineeveresting?
Apart from being something so completely and utterly out of my comfort zone, I really want to promote women’s cycling, learn more about cancer research and specifically around the indigenous communities. So much of what I have done (and still doing) is a selfish pursuit in Triathlon, whereas I am so excited to be part of a team and community to support each other through this challenge
Longest ride: Prior to the 211km Base Camp ride, a few 180km Ironman rides. I remember my first one during the Husky Long Course weekend, and just couldn’t believe that I had actually managed to ride that far, enjoy quite a lot of it and survive! The human body and mind are incredible things
Favourite cycling memory: My Husband and I did a 500k bike packing route around NSW. It was our first trip together and loved it, being out exploring some stunning scenery, being in no rush and just enjoying being healthy and outdoors
Favourite event or race: My first Ironman will always hold a special place in my heart, because I loved every moment of it and genuinely could not believe that I had finished it (whereas my husband and biggest supporter always had faith)
Favourite bike snack: I can’t wait for Boxing day to be able to get the hot cross buns out!
Favourite climb: Even after base camp – Akuna Bay just outside of Sydney, the magic of descending along the water is just so beautiful and we really are lucky to live in such a special part of the world
Tips for endurance riding: Don’t stop eating and drinking and don’t burn all your matches too early
How do I get into cycling if I’m a girl who hasn’t ridden much before but is super keen? Find a group of mates and a loop that with coffee – it’s all about coffee and chats!
