Why are you riding with @alpineeveresting? This, let’s just say is a pretty crazy event and to do it with like-minded women for a great cause to raise awareness for Indigenous cancer care is important.
Longest ride: During the Tour de Cure Australia Sig Tour – Sydney to Hobart – this day was 235kms with 2000+m with 5 seasons in one day which made it long (physical and mentally long) – and then back it up for a few more days after that!
Favourite cycling memory: Riding the Stelvio passe – 2680m, during the Giro - a sunny 25c at the base, bluebird day, caravans and campers lining the road, multicultural vibe, then at the top snow stacked meters high on the side of the road – so much fun
Funniest on-bike moment: A fellow we were riding with – new-ish to cycling was rather liberal with his use of butt cream, it was a long ride and it rained quite heavily this day, and there was much laughter coming from the back of the bunch, upon going back to see what all the commotion was about I could see his rear end looked like an overflowing washing machine with too many soap suds – to this day he still has not lived it down.
Greatest sporting achievement: None really, have done quite a few half IM’s favs were one in Austria, and other Falls Creek – cold but beautiful! – Oh and to be the first female Peloton Manager on a Signature Tour !
Favourite event or race: TDC 2014 Sig Tour – Sydney to Hobart – 10 days - 1570km with 16K Vert - epic.
Favourite endurance fuel: Nuun / Shotz - electrolyte without carbs
Favourite bike snack: real food, fruit cake, vegemite sandwich, and I’ve been known to have the odd lemon jam tart!!
Coffee order: Long Black …oh and I do like a champagne order too!
Favourite workout song or music: Anything Rock (fat boy slim – acid 8000) – there’s a little bogan in me!!!
Favourite climb: Stelvio
How many bikes do you own? 2+1
Tips for endurance riding: Gradual build, Ride your pace, regular eating and drinking on the bike.
How do you juggle work/family/cycling? Planning and discipline – and I’m lucky to have a fab supportive partner (Thanks Big Karl)
How do I get into cycling if I’m a girl who hasn’t ridden much before but is super keen?
Give me a buzz – happy to help where I can!!
What would you say to a woman who is contemplating joining our next adventure?
Give it a go – back yourself be like “ The (Wo)Man in the Arena” Theodore Roosevelt … have a read sooo good!!
