Jan 21/22nd goal: Everesting Roam Occupation: Medical Scientist – Organ and Tissue Donation Why are you riding with @alpineeveresting? I love seeing what a strong and determined group of women can achieve. I’ve been part of all-female multi-day charity rides before and I wanted to do it again. The gap in health outcomes between Indigenous and non-Indigenous Australians is one of this country’s great shames. We are a first world country, yet our First Nations peoples have rates of mortality and morbidity similar to those of a third world country. By riding with Alpine Everesting and Tour de Cure I want to throw a spotlight on this issue and raise not only awareness but funds to help ‘close the gap’. Longest ride: It’s a close call between Peaks Challenge Falls Creek 2015 & 2019; ~245km with about 4800m climbing in 12 hours, and Everesting Garie Beach Road in Royal National Park in 2016: 240km/8902m elevation/21 hours. The time limit at Peaks is the killer! Favourite cycling memory: Finally getting to France to follow le Tour and ride climbs in both the Alps and Pyrenees in 2019. We were so lucky we went when we did, only a few months before Covid hit. Riding those iconic climbs was absolute bucket list material. 10/10 recommend it to anyone who loves cycling… just as soon as we can all get overseas again. Funniest on-bike moment: My husband Calum and I went to TDU in 2015 and when we rode, if he got too far ahead of me he’d pull over and wait, multiple times a day – bless him. Little did he know one day I’d jumped in this enormous train of riders being dragged along by this absolute unit of a Kiwi guy from another bike tour group. We’re hammering along and I see Cal waiting for me on the side of the road. As we flew by I pumped my fist like I was honking the horn of a train and yelled out ‘CHOO-CHOOOOO!!’. Look on his face was priceless. Greatest sporting achievement: Completing my first Ironman, something I never thought I’d do, and completing all three of the Peaks Challenge rides in 2015; Falls Creek, Gold Coast and Tassie. It’s a huge shame they don’t run the Tassie ride anymore, it was an amazing course. Favourite bike snack: I just ask myself ‘what do I like to eat?’ ‘is it portable?’ Yes? Awesome. Eat that. Often. Keepin’ it simple. Coffee order: Flat white. Hot or over ice. Favourite climb: Mount Ventoux, followed closely by any other mountain in France How many bikes do you own? 2 – Trek Project One Silque roadie and a Trek Checkpoint SL5 gravel kid. Tips for endurance riding: Own pace, always. Don’t try and keep up and don’t worry that you’re ‘holding anyone back’. It’s your ride, ride it your way! How do you juggle work/family/cycling? I married a cyclist, so he gets it. Also having two cats and no kids makes life easier; cats are wonderfully self-sufficient. Work can often get heavy physically and emotionally, so I do tend to go long periods without consistent riding because I’m pretty knackered in body and mind. I always seem to bounce back well though, and I’m never reluctant to rest! What would you say to a woman who is contemplating joining us? You can do SO much more than you think you can. You just have to start. Stop worrying about what you haven’t done or what other people have done, are doing or talk about doing (there’s a lot of talkers out there who don’t tend to follow through with the doing bit..), you just do you boo. Get a coach if that’s your jam or find a buddy to train with and just wing it (like I tend to do!). Either way, find what works for YOU and go with that. Your training, the way you fit things into your life is always going to look different to the next person and you need to make peace with that being ok. Just. START.

Jan 21/22nd goal: Everesting Roam Occupation: Head of Distribution, Banking Why are you riding with @alpineeveresting? The last two years have personally been pretty tough and I needed a focus that empowered me to overcome my own personal challenges and to once again thrive. Hopefully my journey towards the Everesting ROAM in January may inspire someone who is currently living in a physically or emotionally challenging environment to step out and recognise that they are so much more than their current circumstances. What does this event mean to you? My cycling has enabled me to give back to a number of charities and being able to support a community struggling to receive equal recognition and opportunities in the medical treatment available for cancers was a cause that really meant a lot to me. Longest ride: 248Kms – 3 Peaks Challenge, High Country VIC Favourite cycling memory: Climbing the Mortirolo in Northen Italy. I had feared that climb for years, and to reach the top after 12.4 brutal kms averaging 10.5% was one of my fondest cycling memories. Tips for cycling mums/women: Just get out there and join in, you won’t regret it! How do you juggle work/family/cycling? I get up really early, I carry protein balls in my laptop bag and I travel with my bike. How do I get into cycling if I’m new to the sport? There are so many great women’s cycling groups that are encouraging and supportive, just get in touch with a group on insta or facebook and ask them how to get involved, you will always find someone in your area willing to give you a hand. Oh and don’t be intimidated by the fast groups you see out on the road, or by women who have accomplished a lot on the bike, we all started somewhere, and had our first ride in clip in pedals or our first ride out on the road (it was scary!) - I love riding with new people and helping them get started in this awesome sport. What would you say to a woman who is contemplating joining our next adventure? Give it a go! Its amazing what you can achieve when you set your mind to it and commit to doing the work to train for an endurance event, plus the encouragement and camaraderie of taking part in an event with a group is something you will never forget! Jan 21/22nd goal: Everesting Roam Occupation: HR Manager Commonwealth Bank Why are you riding with @alpineeveresting? This, let’s just say is a pretty crazy event and to do it with like-minded women for a great cause to raise awareness for Indigenous cancer care is important. Longest ride: During the Tour de Cure Australia Sig Tour – Sydney to Hobart – this day was 235kms with 2000+m with 5 seasons in one day which made it long (physical and mentally long) – and then back it up for a few more days after that! Favourite cycling memory: Riding the Stelvio passe – 2680m, during the Giro - a sunny 25c at the base, bluebird day, caravans and campers lining the road, multicultural vibe, then at the top snow stacked meters high on the side of the road – so much fun Funniest on-bike moment: A fellow we were riding with – new-ish to cycling was rather liberal with his use of butt cream, it was a long ride and it rained quite heavily this day, and there was much laughter coming from the back of the bunch, upon going back to see what all the commotion was about I could see his rear end looked like an overflowing washing machine with too many soap suds – to this day he still has not lived it down. Greatest sporting achievement: None really, have done quite a few half IM’s favs were one in Austria, and other Falls Creek – cold but beautiful! – Oh and to be the first female Peloton Manager on a Signature Tour ! I injured myself in an accident in March (3 fractures in my pelvis) so in June I recruited Bec Hoschke to help get me back on the bike and we decided I needed something to aim for. That started as the Alpine Classic and somehow grew to an Everesting Roam! Longest ride: Longest was 212km from Sydney to Wollongong and back but toughest was the 175km Half Everest on 31 October with some others from the @alpineeveresting team Favourite cycling memory: I’ve completed 5 Westpac Tour de Cure Australia tours and rolling into Barangaroo with 100 riders and all our support crew is always a buzz. But probably the best was 2019 in my first year as a ride leader – so incredibly satisfying getting everyone home safe and seeing many people achieve what they never dreamed was possible Greatest sporting achievement: It’s probably a tie between the Half Everest in October 2021 and the Oxfam 100km Trailwalker in August 2011 Favourite bike snack: Cliff Bars, Roast potatoes (thanks for that tip @drelly_warren!), Xmas mince pies, nuts Coffee order: Flat white (or piccolo if I’m in a hurry!) What would you say to a woman who is contemplating joining our next adventure but has some self-doubt? Jan 21/22nd goal: Everesting Roam (eeek) Occupation: Lawyer / Mum / Cyclist Why are you riding with @alpineeveresting? #womenonbikescandoamazingthings. Because one of my motto’s is to say YES! Yes to riding with an amazing group of old and new friends. Yes to challenging myself in a way that I never have before. Yes to learning more and spreading the word about a topic (Indigenous health) that I know little about. You don’t get anywhere or learn anything by saying No. What does this event mean to you? I have been shocked to hear during the past 6 months of this journey about the disparities that STILL exist today in Australia in our health care system for our First Nations friends. I love that I can do something to bring awareness to issue that doesn’t get a lot of airtime. Longest ride: Furthest: 210km – Around the Bay in the Day Longest time in the saddle: Half Everest training ride – Berowra East Climb. Favourite cycling memory: L’Etape 170km / 2500m ride 4 months after having my 3rd baby (and not a lot of sleep). I was that crazy lady breastfeeding at the finish line!!! Funniest on-bike moment: Creating a “bike race” with a bunch of mates that involved riding up Macquarie Pass and with the kicker being you had to eat a pie before you had crossed the finish line…remember that @kouttsgeorgia Greatest cycling or sporting achievement: In a former life (pre kids, mortgage etc) I was a rower and was in the Aussie Rowing Team for a number of years and won 3 x world championships in the LW4X event with another bunch of amazing and strong female athletes. Aiming for: Everesting Roam Occupation: Lawyer Why are you riding with @alpineeveresting? I loved the idea of the ROAM challenge, and being inspired by and having the opportunity to ride with some amazing women (and men) in Victorian High Country for an important cause - I knew it would be awesome fun to be involved. Challenges are always way more satisfying when there is a purpose too, so have loved the opportunity to build my own awareness, and the awareness of others to the gap in cancer outcomes for indigenous Australians, and to raise money to help address it as part of the event. It is also a great excuse to spend more time riding with one of my best friends., the awesome Miranda Bennett, who constantly inspires me and whose tail I am always chasing on the bike! I'm a little scared, as it is way beyond anything I have done before, but I know I will give it my best shot, and be incredibly grateful for the experience. Longest ride: 179km for our Everest Basecamp up Berowra Favourite cycling memory: Impossible to pick one. So many great adventures on 2 wheels with friends, family and colleagues over the years, and on my own - including a memorable solo tour of Tuscany on a hired bike with panforte for morning tea overlooking the rolling tuscan hills! Teaching my three kids how to ride a bike rates high up there too and have loved my tours with Westpac and Tour de Cure the last few years - such a great team atmosphere raising money for such an important cause. Funniest on-bike moment: Two recent ones that come to mind - the track stand fail/fall a few weeks ago - just couldn't get my cleat out in time. I was on my own thankfully! Also, that time I rode 12kms to the start of an Tour de Cure Australia group ride only to realise I wasn’t wearing my helmet! I had to hot foot it back home (safely) and make it back in time to a mid route point! Favourite workout song: Dolly Parton 9-5 or Paul Simon You can call me Al - classic songs I like singing along to... How many bikes: 4... BMC Roadie, my old Giant roadie that lives on the trainer, mtb bike to ride with hubby and kids, and a hybrid that has the toddler seat on the back (which is going on gumtree soon...)! Tips for cycling mums: Prioritise what's important, don't sweat the small stuff and don't be too hard on yourself. My house is often a mess (I have a 3yr old, 7 and 9yr old). I miss sessions if my kids need me. I'm ok with both of those (and other compromises). I also make sure my partner knows cycling is important to me, and ensure we both give each other time to do things we enjoy. What would you say to a woman who is contemplating joining our next adventure: Don't underestimate how much it helps to be inspired, motivated and supported by others! The Alpine Everesting crew are amazing! Name: James Holbeck aka Jimmy aka Bone
Occupation: National Manager of Player Development @ The Rugby Union Player’s Association How did you get into riding? I was asked to ride with The Fathering Project in 2019 as part of their fundraising drive to help engage dads in schools, which aligned perfectly with my Masters in Family Studies majoring in Fatherhood. Never thought I’d don the lycra and ride on the road. Why are you riding with @alpineeveresting? It scares me enough to drive both self-doubt and fear but also the desire to overcome those things by getting out of bed early in order to achieve something worthwhile. I do hate the politicising of social issues when they get in the way of simple solutions and so see this as an opportunity to produce a tangible outcome for improving cancer diagnosis for aboriginal people by raising funds for a cultural health officer. Longest ride - A few 160km rides. Favourite Cycling moment - Completing the Base Camp Everesting this year on the anniversary of my mum’s passing, two years ago. Greatest Sporting Moment: The first run-on game for the Australian Wallabies against England in front of friends and family at the Sydney Football Stadium or fighting back from 4 years of injury to play the last 5 minutes in the decider for Australia’s first ever series win against the British & Irish Lions in 2001 at a sold-out Homebush Stadium. Favourite endurance food: Baked sweet potato, peanut butter & honey sandwiches, bananas, bars. Coffee order: Chai Latte or Cappuccino Favourite Climb: North Brother at North Haven which is a local climb, just for the achievement of enduring a 10% average gradient over 4kms and the views from the lookout. How many bikes do you own? Two - a road bike and a 13 year old Mountain bike. Favourite workout music: Haven’t ever got into listening to music while I ride but I do sing aloud when I’m riding by myself to something like The Cars ‘Just what I needed’. Jan 21/22nd goal: Enjoy the scenery and finish the Everesting Roam! Occupation: Financial Adviser. Why are you riding with @alpineeveresting? I am riding for the challenge and to enjoy doing something worthwhile as a family with Mel and Alani. Longest ride: In distance it would be 228k Grafton to Inverell (2009) for time it would be a 12 hour challenge on Zwift (about 320km). Favourite cycling moment: Completing Grafton to Inverell in 2009, club racing with my kids (James and Alani), a gravel riding adventure with Mel and my brother (which involved scrambling through landslides!). Greatest sporting achievement: Completing 20 laps of the Mirrim Wurnit last one standing race. That’s about 133km over a 6.7km course through hilly paddocks. I outlasted some much better runners and was totally spent (and very injured) by the end! Favourite event: Northface 100/UTA100 when it was a smaller race. Self-created events are the best though. Favourite endurance fuel: Whatever works on the day. Just have lots of choice. Coffee order: No thanks. Favourite workout music: Something with a beat. Favourite climb: Comboyne, Gingers (Oxley Highway). How many bikes do you own? 3 (road, MTB and gravel), although I think there are a total of 14 bikes in the family (not including the ones the kids of out grown) Tips for endurance riding: Train as much as you can, but arrive at the start line injury free. Name: Denise Wilson
Jan 21/22nd goal: Everesting Roam Occupation: Solicitor and mediator / business owner Why Alpine Everesting? Love the challenge of two long days in the saddle, great country side and family support. And it sounded so much fun in a locked down winter. Longest ride (in distance): Three Peaks Longest ride (in learning): Falls Creek Ultimate Triathlon (I recall unclipping to do the turns and not appreciating that a ride in the mountains involved, well mountains) Favourite cycling moments: Most rides with Alec (22 years) I am so fortunate to share this interest. And ok, beating Alec home in our first long course race (I had the endurance over his speed just this once!) Greatest sporting achievement: The many female friendships across age groups. Aug 2006 18km long run for my first half marathon (who knew a ‘non runner” could run that far? ) Ironman May 2019 – 9 Balance Tri club (7 first timers) women did the IM – we all followed very different training plans and all came home within an hour of each other. So so good. 10 November 2021 – DIY 9k open water swim – learning to swim is the hardest skill I have mastered as an adult Favourite Event: Blackmore’s Running Festival – hard to beat an Opera House Finish Coffee order: My husband rides the motorcycle to meet me on long rides and he bought a portable expresso machine – even after 35 years of marriage he is still a keeper. Fave workout music: Sia, P!nk, Little Mix, Imagine Dragon and pull out Meatloaf and Jimmy Barnes when I need the bigger guns. Tips for cycling mums: There is no one way to train and the consistency of raising kids is great brain training for keeping going on a hard ride – your headspace is as important (more so in my experience) as training hours. How do I get into cycling? It is great if you can find a friend who rides – always ask as people are usually very glad to help. What would you say to a women who is thinking about joining us? When you say yes to one adventure, the next adventures are easier to say yes too – and look at other non sporting areas you have said yes too (relationships, jobs, travel). Name: Nakita Brown @kitaconqueringadventures
Jan 21/22nd: Tackling Everesting Roam! Occupation: Lawyer Why are you riding with @alpineeveresting? Two main reasons: 1. My family, like many others, has been touched by cancer losing my mother in 2013 (my grandfather & many friends). I think it is critical that everyone has access to the same support/services when faced with such a battle; 2. I love to take on challenges and adventures that I’m not sure are possible (& scare me) and inspire other people (especially other women) to take their own first step to achieve what they think is impossible. Longest ride: March 2021, 24hr cycling Audax team event, The Oppy. I rode 431.89 km and we achieved the QLD all female team record! Favourite cycling moment: Cycling has opened up my world and allowed me to meet so many amazing people. One moment I will forever cherish is towards the beginning of my cycling journey (no, not the moment of falling over at an intersection trying to unclip….a moment most of us have, haha!). The Ride to Conquer Cancer was a 2-day event, 100km each day and camping overnight to raise funds for cancer research. In 2015, my second R2CC was in Melbourne with my brother and father. It was challenging but something I will be forever grateful for as the three of us rode together in memory of my mother and all other cancer suffers and survivors. Favourite event: My favourite rides are the random adventures that start with a crazy idea. This year we decided to ride from the Sunshine Coast to the border of NSW return. We faced crazy headwinds on the hottest day I think I have ever ridden BUT we had a blast. Favourite endurance fuel: I have recently tried a boiled potato with salt in an ultra-trail run. It was amazing and brought me back to life, hehe. What would you say to a woman who is contemplating joining us? Reach out to people involved in the current adventure to hear their story/background, back yourself and say yes!! A fair few of us have self-doubt about the event but with a positive attitude and amazing support you won’t look back. These adventures leave you with a life time of memories. Jan 21/22nd: Everesting Roam Occupation: Kids ICU doctor Why are you riding with @alpineeveresting? So impressed by the work being done and ongoing health needs of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders. The work by all at @yerin_eleanorduncan_ahs is very inspiring, I was especially moved by the importance of a healthcare journey navigator service. Jan 21/22nd goal: Everesting Roam Occupation: Accountant Why are you riding with @alpineeveresting? Apart from being something so completely and utterly out of my comfort zone, I really want to promote women’s cycling, learn more about cancer research and specifically around the indigenous communities. So much of what I have done (and still doing) is a selfish pursuit in Triathlon, whereas I am so excited to be part of a team and community to support each other through this challenge Longest ride: Prior to the 211km Base Camp ride, a few 180km Ironman rides. I remember my first one during the Husky Long Course weekend, and just couldn’t believe that I had actually managed to ride that far, enjoy quite a lot of it and survive! The human body and mind are incredible things Favourite cycling memory: My Husband and I did a 500k bike packing route around NSW. It was our first trip together and loved it, being out exploring some stunning scenery, being in no rush and just enjoying being healthy and outdoors Favourite event or race: My first Ironman will always hold a special place in my heart, because I loved every moment of it and genuinely could not believe that I had finished it (whereas my husband and biggest supporter always had faith) Favourite bike snack: I can’t wait for Boxing day to be able to get the hot cross buns out! Favourite climb: Even after base camp – Akuna Bay just outside of Sydney, the magic of descending along the water is just so beautiful and we really are lucky to live in such a special part of the world Tips for endurance riding: Don’t stop eating and drinking and don’t burn all your matches too early How do I get into cycling if I’m a girl who hasn’t ridden much before but is super keen? Find a group of mates and a loop that with coffee – it’s all about coffee and chats! Name: Jennifer Ryan (Hollingsworth) @Jen_R_y_a_n
Jan 21/22nd goal: Everesting Roam Occupation: Commercial and Residential Finance Director Why are you riding with @alpineeveresting? To give back… I have had a lot of friends and family who have been affected by cancer. To be able to use my health and fitness to raise awareness and much needed funds for an incredible cause, with such a strong and passionate bunch of women (and men), is something I am so grateful for. The Everesting Roam journey and event are nothing compared to the fight of those who have battled cancer or had loved ones battle it. In particular, the Indigenous community where the inequality is evident, making the battle and fight a lot harder. To give back in small ways really is something special. Longest ride: 210kms – recently with Jasmine. We rode from the Central Coast to Sydney via Berowra Waters, Galston Gorge, Bobbin Head and returned the same way. We spent majority of it laughing and I have to say, it was one of my most enjoyable rides. Favourite cycling memory: Riding next to Terenzo Bozzone for a #second as he rode passed on a climb, in Spain. I had enough energy to yell “Go Terenzzo” and I got a wave. The smile didn’t leave my face for a long time. Funniest on-bike moment: Falling off in a car park, in front of about 300 triathletes because I forgot to unclip. Rookie Error! I am still claiming I’m a rookie. Greatest sporting achievement: 11th at ITU Long Course World Champs 2019. Riding in the Green and Gold was amazing. Favourite climb: Charlottes Pass & Macquaries Pass. Although, I only like going up so I can have fun going down. What would you say to a woman who is contemplating joining our next adventure? We have all been that woman with self-doubt at some stage. Reach out to the team or even DM me for a chat. The women in this Team are so supportive of all levels and you might just surprise yourself. Name: Jasmine Lamont @triathlon.jasmine
Jan 21/22nd goal: Everesting Roam Challenge Occupation: Police Officer (NSWPF) (Domestic Violence Officer) My why: I am riding because I love a challenge, I love raising money for charity’s that are close to my heart and I love to inspire others, especially my beautiful little girl.❤️🔥 Longest ride: 210km of hills with Jenn (my cycling partner in crime) Favourite cycling memory: *Doing a western Sydney half Ironman 6 months after having my beautiful daughter. *coming 2nd in my AG at Huskisson, with the women’s top bike split and having my little girl wear my medal around. *winning the women’s D grade Bathurst 3 day tour, whilst being a single mum, working full time and unbeknown being very sick with glandular fever and chronic fatigue. *watching my daughter ride her bike at 2.5 years of age Favourite race: huskisson tri or HEZ Favourite fuel: peanut butter cliff bars Favourite snack: croissants, pretzels & salt chips Coffee order: oat cap + 1 stevia Favourite workout song: black skin head / Kayne west or a bit of AC/DC Favourite climb: Galston gorge or bobbin head. Tips for endurance: take it slow, and make it enjoyable with a friend and take loads of snacks Tips for cycling mum / women: don’t ever let your emotions stop you. It doesn’t matter if you think you’re too fat, too unfit, not good enough or you don’t look like a “cyclist”. All that matters is you keep doing what makes you happy and f$#! what others may think. Get up, show up and don’t ever stop trying! How do I juggle work, family & cycling: With a lot of difficulty ! Being a single mum, with no family and working is hard, but it’s not impossible. My biggest help to get me started and through was finding gyms that have crèches. My indoor trainer and working with the time I had (ie; late nights / nap times and early morning rides) * most importantly, find amazing, motivated and encouraging friends who will inspire you to push to want more. How to get involved in cycling if I’m new to the sport: I got into cycling by finding a beautiful group of women who did triathlons (the amazing - Jo Smith). I look via fb and searched and searched. I started off with the basics and it’s just flowed from there. I’ve joined more groups, made new friends and enjoyed every step of the way, I’ve been well out of my depths, dropped regularly, injured but it’s taught me to fight harder to better myself. What would you say to a women contemplating joining but has self doubt: Everything is possible if you have enough determination. The worst that can happen is you fail. But the more you fail, the stronger you will become. I always think, better a woops than a what if. Name: Nicole Brunt @nic_brunt
Jan 21/22nd goal: Everesting Roam Occupation: Intensive Care Nurse Why are you riding with @alpineeveresting? I love everything this team is striving for- raising money for an amazing cause, increasing awareness around the healthcare gap between indigenous and white Australians, and lastly I’m passionate about empowering more women to take up cycling- its such a ‘mans’ sport and its easy to be discouraged when starting out due to the issue of sexism so if we can get more women doing amazing things it can only be a step in the right direction. Longest ride: Just recently our Everest Base Camp ride (10hrs / 207kms and 29 reps up Akuna Bay hill for 4424m elevation). My longest prior to that was a tour around Noosa hinterlands- 160kms in around 6hrs with my friend and now housemate. Prior to this my first 100k ride was only in February (9 months ago) Favourite cycling memory: Riding with my mate Kat in Noosa and getting to the famous Kenilworth bakery 100km into the ride and seeing the array of head-sized donuts. Then subsequently trying to vomit it back up on the way home. Funniest on-bike moment: almost running over a diamond python going down akuna bay then listening to the rest of the crew (all English) scream as they swerved it behind me. Greatest sporting achievement: I came second once in the Glencoe Scottish highland marathon - a Trail/fell run of 45km with >2000m elevation. There was a huge storm, there was sleet on top of the mountains and I’ve still never seen rain quite like it. It took almost 8hrs. Though I’m pretty sure most of the other females either withdrew or got lost. Favourite event or race: Challenge Wanaka 70.3 Triathlon 2020- my first proper triathlon, just so scenic and such a fun day with perfect conditions and my longest cycle at the time. Favourite endurance fuel: I use a mix! Whatever is at hand really. I quite like the Gu gels and the Clif Bloks though for condensed sugar. I also love Nuun strawberry lemonade electrolytes and a blue Powerade never gets old. Favourite bike snack: Cliff bars are easiest to eat in my experience. Coffee order: Soy latte- Large and extra hot. Favourite workout music: Fat Freddys drop- check them out. Favourite climb: Akuna (still, some how) I prefer the longer gradual climbs. How many bikes do you own? 2 - my road bike, a Merida Juliet i purchased late 2019 as my first proper bike. I only paid $450 in NZL! Then this year I bought my beautiful LIV TT bike, Pamela (named after Pamela Anderson of course) Tips for endurance riding: I’m still the student! But invest in the bib shorts and glasses. Tips for cycling women: Just find a friend or even someone you barely know to start cycling with, it makes you get up and do it. How do you juggle work/family/cycling? My job is 50% night shifts so sometimes its tricky trying to train when you’re tired. But mostly it works well. How do I get into cycling if I’m a girl who hasn’t ridden much before but is super keen? Reach out to a friend/neighbour/colleague, ask lots of questions, get in touch with someone else who rides and if you can join a club or training group so you can ride safely with others. What would you say to a woman who is contemplating joining our next adventure? If you’re still thinking about the challenge after two days, just do it! The rest will work itself out. Make a plan to get to your big goal, get a coach or ask for advice if you’re not sure! Name: Dawn Hinds @dawn_hinds

Our family are proud descendents of the Melurkedee People of South East Tasmania and the kids love being involved in the Birpai Community at school.
